Welcome to the LO/HP Website!
One day, a Black American female, Sharon Loving Ruff (previously Sharon Loving), experienced a divine encounter with the Almighty God and learned that her ancestral roots were from the Kpellé tribe in Liberia, West Africa. Then, in December 1989 she was sent to Liberia to discover her ancestral roots and to be a blessing to her people. It was during her journey, which spanned the first two and a half-months of Liberia's 14-year civil war, when she experienced "a cry from the depths of her heart" that she needed to do something to help alleviate the extreme level of suffering and despair among the poor in Liberia; her people. Upon returning to America, she began efforts to finance targeted orphanage and humanitarian projects within the Paynesville Community in Liberia. For the next nine years, she spearheaded awareness of the flight of the poor in Liberia through fundraising efforts under different organizational umbrellas. Then in 2009, she established The Liberian Orphanage/Humanitarian Projects, Inc. (LO/HP, Inc.) as a separate faith-based 501(c)(3) Federally recognized private non-profit charity organization which continued and expanded previous projects and created new ones. Our mission is to significantly impact the lives of abandoned, abused, neglected and orphaned children in Liberia, West Africa and to engage in humanitarian projects that will improve the quality of life for disadvantaged Liberians, and other underserved individuals around the world.
Since our inception, LO/HP, Inc. has been staffed by all volunteers. Our humanitarian projects and initiatives have helped thousands, relieved suffering of untold multitudes, changed lives, provided tools of success, birthed hope and otherwise improved the life of those most in need who, in most instances, had no one else to help them.
